We're live on Subvert!

Subvert is a new music streaming platform co-op, owned by artists and fans with no involvement from venture capital and corporations. Where the usual streaming services like Spotify and Tidal have you going through various middle-men and distributors to get your music on there, Subvert gives you full control.

And we've joined!

Why Subvert?

Well. Regular streaming services are generally problematic. The reason you can no longer listen to our NU DET NU split with Fordærv and Kokain on these streaming services is because Spotify had it removed on the distributor-level. It's not even possible to challenge this decision.

And that's not even mentioning other issues like nonexistent payouts, poor AI policies, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek investing in military tech, Bandcamp's concert-listing partner Songkick being acquired by AI-music company Suno, and many other factors.

Okay, so why not just use Bandcamp?

We do! But Bandcamp was bought out twice, first by Epic Games (which is partially owned by the Chinese conglomerate Tencent and various American entertainment giants) and then by Songtradr, and American music licensing corporation.

This has resulted in Bandcamp being increasingly monetised, and less effort being put into improving the platform.

Factors like this are why we as a band are gravitating to more sensible solutions like Subvert to challenge the current corporate structure of music.

Subvert is by artists and fans, for artists and fans. Not for company profits, and never beholden to the interests of shareholders and venture capital. The platform is wholly owned by the community.

We suggest reading more about it on their own website if you're interested.

What about the future then?

You will still be able to find our music on the usual streaming services.

We're not a commercial band, and we don't want to be, but if people can't easily listen to us they most likely won't. By joining Subvert we're hoping to one day arrive at a point where sensible platforms prevail. We might also release some exclusive material only on Subvert in the future!

As a band we can only recommend using Subvert to the degree that it's possible for you, both as fan or artist, and to support the bands that mean the most to you!
